Closed Cell foam image
Closed-Cell Foam is characterized by air bubbles that are separate from each other. In general, it has a harder surface feel, but is better at absorbing impacts than open celled foam. Other factors such as foam density (pounds per cubic foot) and the structure of the plastic material itself also affect softness and impact absorbing ability. Closed-cell foam is used for mats and in other products where impact absorption is a must.  Since it floats and does not absorb water, it is also used in boats. Call for prices.

Rebonded foam sample
Rebonded foam, sometimes called rebond or bonded foam, is recycled foam that is made by grinding foam into small bits and bonding them back together. Weighing in at 8 pounds per cubic foot, our high density rebonded foam is a very heavy foam with excellent impact absorbing qualities.  Typically used in high end athletic equipment & tumbling mats.  Rebonded foam comes in blocks approximately 10" x 55" x 78" which we cut to your specifications. CONFOR ergonomic foam offers a unique combination of physical characteristics, high energy absorption properties and temperature-softening behavior.

High Energy Absorption:

The foams ability to dissipate energy prevents them from bottoming out, or collapsing completely, and virtually no energy is returned to the impacting body.

Temperature-Softening Behavior:

Under sustained pressure and exposure to body warmth, CONFOR foams soften and “flow,” conforming to the body. With the release or shifting of weight, however, the foam constantly and gradually readjusts. This behavior starkly contrasts the constant return force of commodity-grade high-resilience foams when they are compressed.

Versatility for Design:

CONFOR foam is easily laminated to other conventional foam for customized products. This greatly simplifies the design of products that must sustain weight and provide comfort. One self-adjusting formulation, incorporated into a seat or mattress, for instance, will provide equal cushioning and support for occupants of various weights. Energy absorption capabilities will be equivalent as well.

With strategic use of CONFOR foams, design engineers can optimize their considerable benefits. In seating, for example, extra softness can be achieved by combining a relatively thin layer of CONFOR foam with another standard material.

Broad Functionality:

Offers a wide variety of performance advantages for cushioning, shock absorption, sealing and vibration.

Wide Range of Applications:

Medical (wheelchairs, operating tables, neo-natal cribs, orthopedic devices and braces),Occupational/Recreational (aircraft, trucks, commercial vehicles, motorcycles, boats), Athletics (gymnastic & weight training equipment, exercise mats & bicycle seats).

Fire Retardant Specs: Confor foam meets the following fire retardant specifications:

FMVSS-302, FAR 25.853(a), California Flame 117
